It’s Showtime
Oct 21st 08

With the season opener at the Kwinana Motorplex this Saturday night fast approaching the Outback Express team are busy putting the final touches to the WA1 A-Z Panel & Paint Pontiac of the Goldfields Rob Bawdon.

Things have not gone to plan to date for the reigning WA Super Sedan champion with delays in the arrival of the new Rocket chassis from the workshop of Lismore’s Danny Smith causing the team to miss the North West swing of the Super Sedan Summer Series, but this weekend at the “PLEX” it will be time to get down and dirty with the first hit out of the new car in Round 4 of the series.

Over the last couple of weeks the home of the WA1 Rocket has been a hive of activity as engine implants, exhaust manufacture and all the little things that seem to take forever have been completed to get the car to the line on Saturday night.

With no time available to turn a few laps quietly to settle the new car in before the baptism of fire on Saturday night, Rob and the team will have their work cut out to get the car on the pace from the moment the flag drops for his first heat. With 18+ cars nominated it could be a big task commented Rob, but the car is only marginally different to the old car and we have a good base setup for Kwinana so hopefully we will be on the pace.

A lot of the guys already have some seat time from doing the north trip and I am probably a little rusty from the off season but Bec has put me on a health kick and I feel better than at the end of last season so that probably will help from a fitness perspective.

With a number of new sponsors on board for the season the Outback Express will be looking to put on a good show for the first outing.

And if you are in the pits at Kwinana don’t look for the yellow and white crew shirts to find the car and crew this year as the crew will be stepping out this week in new designs courtesy of BCM Motorsport Marketting. Bear called this morning to let us know that the new gear was here and he will get it to the track for Saturday so keep a eye out for the new look

Look forward to seeing you trackside this weekend
